1 Corinthians 1:26-2:5 — We have done nothing and there is nothing we can do to be saved and become children of God, kingdom people. Christ crucified and resurrected, the power and wisdom of God, reconciled us with God, redeemed (saved) us, and made us holy to live as God’s people. God called us. The power of the Holy Spirit brought about faith in us so that we believe in Jesus Christ. It is all grace, all God’s work in us. Therefore, we can and should boast in the Lord alone. He made us, who were nobodies, into somebodies, children of God, citizens of the kingdom of heaven.
This sermon is part of our sermon series for the Lent season, 2021, The Way of the Cross. For this sermon I owe much to the following sources — Wright, T.
