Jesus Is King & Messiah, Lord & Savior

March 28, 2021 - Palm Sunday

Matthew 21:1-11 — On his way to the cross Jesus entered Jerusalem as King and Messiah. He encountered the crowds, the world, and us today as Lord and Savior. How do we respond to Him? Do we misunderstand Him as the crowds did? Are we ashamed of him and reject him because he does not meet our expectations? No, we believe that He is the real, true King of kings, Lord of the world, and the Messiah, the Savior of the world, and we follow Him on the way of the cross.

This sermon is part of our sermon series for the Lent season, 2021, The Way of the Cross.

Boast in the Lord Alone (Part 2)

March 21, 2021

1 Corinthians 1:26-2:5 — We have done nothing and there is nothing we can do to be saved and become children of God, kingdom people. Christ crucified and resurrected, the power and wisdom of God, reconciled us with God, redeemed (saved) us, and made us holy to live as God’s people. God called us. The power of the Holy Spirit brought about faith in us so that we believe in Jesus Christ. It is all grace, all God’s work in us. Therefore, we can and should boast in the Lord alone. He made us, who were nobodies, into somebodies, children of God, citizens of the kingdom of heaven.

This sermon is part of our sermon series for the Lent season, 2021, The Way of the Cross. For this sermon I owe much to the following sources — Wright, T. The Cross is the Power & Wisdom of God

March 7, 2021

1 Corinthians 1:17-25 — The message of the cross seems like foolishness and weakness to the world but for those who believe it is the power and wisdom of God that save and give new life. Death leads to life, that is the power and wisdom of the cross. Christ died so that we may live. Now He asks us to take up our crosses, to lose our lives so that we may find life in Him—real, abundant, and eternal life.
