God's Love Is Here

December 18, 2022

Malachi 2:17-3:7 — God’s love has come, is here and present with us, and is coming. His love is fierce and fiery like a fire. God’s love is a refining fire that purifies his people. His love is also a consuming fire that comes in judgment on sin, evil, unbelievers, and the unfaithful. God’s love does not change but is patient and merciful as He calls us to return to Him and He will return to us.

This is part of our Advent series Love Is Here. With the advent of Christ, God’s love came to us and is now here and present with us. God’s love saved us. We are called to bring His love to others and make His love here and present for others. With the second coming of Christ, God’s love will be fulfilled, made perfect, and will be here and present with us forever in his new creation.

Our Advent series for 2022 is adapted from and based on the study, A Look at Advent through the Old Testament, by Matt Woodley and Kelly White as well as Matt Woodley’s Advent series sermons based on the same study, see PreachingToday.com.

Repent!

January 10, 2021

Ezekiel 18:1-32; Revelation 1-3 — When we come face-to-face with the holiness of God, when we remember the work of Jesus Christ on the cross and our calling to be kingdom people and priests, then we need to repent. Repentance enables us to turn away from our unholiness toward holiness because our God is holy. Where do we need to repent in our personal lives? Where do we need to repent as a church? As God’s people nationwide? As God’s people globally?

This is part of our series during the 40 Days of Prayer.

Christmas Is Not a Fairy Tale

December 25, 2020

Christmas Day — Luke 2:1-21: God acts in history to accomplish his kingdom purposes. God is not a storybook God. Jesus was born into this world, into this history. He is the Savior, Christ the Lord, who came, who lived, who died, who rose from the dead, and rules as the Lord of the Universe. He is God with us, always. This is the truth, this is the good news of Christmas.
